Retire In The Philippines

As of 2008 there are now 400 nursing schools with enrollment
approaching 900,000 students in nurse courses alone. Of those 400
schools, 50 are consistently turning out nurses that can pass the
national licensure on graduation. The rest have dismal records on
passing the nurse license exam (NLE). One place to visit with an
excellent take on the huge over population of nurses and the
retrogression of green cards for US Immigration is to visit the
Philippine Nurse Forum at http://allnurses.com/forums/f235/. It is so
overcrowded that new graduate nurses must PAY THE HOSPITAL to work and
gain clinical experience!! There are approximately 250,000 licensed
nurses looking for a very few and terrible paying jobs at hospitals.
The starting salary is about 7,000 p / month…but hospitals rarely hire.

I will state my source as told to my wife directly from the SS office,
but I see from the info in your link it was because my wife came over
as a K-3 visa and not a K-1.
The SS office did not state why to us, only that she had to wait
until she adjusts her status and applies for the EAD.

After a few years here i have seen the best and the worst, the good and the bad, but the end result has always been that the best and the good outweigh the worst and the bad..thank you for your post.

Sometimes you really have to volunteer first before they can hire
you. I volunteered for 3 months some of my friends volunteered for
longer than 6 mos.until they had an opening. They have to wait until
there is a vacant position. And yes, you have to pay everything
sometimes they only give you free lunch! (that means whatever food in
they have in the dietary aka food for the patients which is crap!)
Especially now that a lot of people took nursing, its not what you
know its who you know in the admin. If you are planning to move here
in the US its better for her to have a volunteer job in a big
hospital so she can get more exposure/experience with the patient.
You’re not doing anything wrong just think of it, how many nurses
graduated and passed the board that year? Where are they all gonna be
goin?
I would say volunteer and wait until they have an open position but
make sure they will be having an opening.And be ready with the salary
don’t expect much, 5 years ago I got paid for $150- (6000-7000pesos)

im just wondering if perhaps there are just as many filipinas thinking exactly the same thing about their boyfriends /husbands being somewhat lacking and silently thinking their mates could use some augmenting and enlarging as well…. the difference is the filipinas would be either too shy or too respectfull to dare mention such an idea in a public forum!

Hello, I am not sure what you mean. Please define what you mean by
California gives reciprocity to Registered Nurses. Do you mean that they can enter US universities or can work in hospitals in USA? I am not being a hard ass, just wondering what you mean.

You don’t get the same experience as you have described driving in other parts of the more developed countries. So I guess there are already solutions to the problems. The Philippines just haven’t implemented them fully yet.
